Why not make logos with AI

In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionised many industries, including graphic design. There are numerous tools, websites and programs on the internet that promise to generate logos in a matter of seconds, at minimal cost, or even for free.

Although it can serve as inspiration, more aspects should always be taken into account when making a logo, because it is to create a distinction, something eye-catching, something for which people should choose you among millions of competitors. We are not saying don't use it, but we are sure that at the moment it is not the best way for your brand/company to rely entirely on Artificial Intelligence, especially if you are going down the road.

We list some of the disadvantages why we do not recommend using Artificial Intelligence for logo creation:

1. Lack of originality and exclusivity

One of the main problems with AI-generated logos is that they often rely on pre-existing templates and combinations of generic elements. This means that many brands can end up with similar or even identical logos, which affects the uniqueness and differentiation of the brand in the market.

2. Lack of strategy and meaning

An effective logo is not just a combination of shapes and colours; it is the result of a strategic process that seeks to represent the essence and values of a brand/company. AI cannot deeply understand the vision, mission and personality of a business, resulting in superficial designs with no real meaning, no story to tell.

3. Copyright issues

Many AI logo generators use databases of pre-existing designs or icon banks, which can lead to intellectual property issues. In the absence of a unique, customised design, the brand could face legal issues if the logo is too similar to an already registered logo.

4. Limitations on adaptability

Logos should be functional in different formats and scales, from a business card to a billboard or a digital application. Many AI-generated logos are not optimised for different uses, which can lead to readability and application problems.

5. Lack of identity and emotional connection

A good logo design is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also generates an emotional connection with the audience. Real designers can apply psychological and emotional principles to logo design, creating real meaning for the brand/company, something that an AI cannot effectively replicate.

6. No personalised review process

Designing a logo is an interactive process that involves adjustments and revisions based on the client's feedback, their tastes, vision and mission, and even personal objectives and goals. With AI, the user receives a quick result, but without the possibility of professional refinement that ensures the coherence and effectiveness of the final design.

Conclusion

While AI can be a complementary tool in graphic design, it does not replace the value of the creative and strategic work of a professional designer. A logo is a long-term investment for any business, and opting for a bespoke design ensures authenticity, functionality and lasting market impact. If you are looking for a strong, professional brand identity, the best option is always to work with an experienced designer.
